State patrol reports area vehicle crashes

A three-vehicle crash in Morrison County; and  two-vehicle crashes in Cass County (one involving a school bus) were among the local incidents reported by the Minnesota State Patrol (MSP) during the past week.

Snow and ice were factors in the Jan. 9 crash involving a school bus and a Ford F150 pick-up truck. The incident happened on Hwy 210 near Little Pine Trl in Sylvan Township, Cass County. Both vehicles were westbound on Hwy 210.

According to state patrol, the school bus, driven by Andrew Doucette, 21, of Brainerd, was stopped to let students off the bus, when it was rear-ended by the pick-up truck, driven by Scott Hudson, 61, of Motley.

The driver of the bus was not injured, nor were any of the five passengers, listed as Lyssa Adams, 14; Rosa Garcia, 13; Andrew Holmes, 12; Adrian Johnson, 11; Nash Osland, 10. Hudson, the driver of the pick-up, was transported to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Snow and ice were factors as well in the Jan. 7 crash in Motley Township, near Hwy 10 and 38th St. The incident happened at approximately 4:30 p.m.

According to state patrol, a Ford truck driven by 20-year-old Alicia Goltz of Motley was eastbound on 385th St.; and a Peterbilt Conventional semi pulling a Vanguard trailer, driven by Danny Cooks, 37, of Jacksonville, Fla.,  was southbound on Hwy 10. The Ford pulled onto Hwy 10 and was struck broadside by the semi.

Goltz was transported to Lakewood Health System Hospital in Staples and treated for non-life threatening injuries. Cooks was not injured. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Assisting agencies included the Randall Police, Motley Fire & Rescue; and the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office.

On Jan. 6, the state patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash at Hwy 210 west of West Sylvan Dr. SW in Sylvan Township. According to their report, a Dodge Neon, driven by Francine Alt, 33, of Motley, was eastbound on Hwy 210 and attempting to turn, when it was struck from behind by a Chevy Malibu, driven by Steven Tressler, 27, of Staples.

The incident occurred at approximately 6 p.m. and road conditions were dry, the state patrol said.

Alt and her passengers, Jason Coventry, 35; and Peyton Coventry, 10, both of Motley, were transported to Essentia Health - St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
