Vehicle trouble leads to traffic jam
Traffic along Hwy 10 in Motley was at a stand-still for nearly an hour the afternoon of Nov. 4, after the drive shaft of a semi-truck fell out. Motley Police Chief Ron Smith said the incident happened as the semi-truck, headed east on Hwy 10, was turning onto Hwy 210. Westbound traffic on Hwy 10 was backed up from the intersection lights to the south end of town. Eastbound traffic was diverted around the fairgrounds. Pictured in lower photo, Chief Smith helped direct traffic at the intersection of Hwys 10 and 210 while a tow-truck works at the scene. The Motley Fire Dept. also helped direct traffic. “And of all the days to break down, it was the Friday of deer hunting opener,” Chief Smith said. “On a good note, everyone got where they were going safely.” (Staples World photo by Dawn Timbs)
