Class: How to analyze the news
Fake news has become the news - outrageous stories masquerading as truth, spreading with lightning speed on the internet. Fake news stories seem so true, how can anyone tell what to believe?
The Morrison County Historical Society is offering a class meant to help. Called “How to Analyze the News,” the class will cover propaganda, confirmation bias, the anatomy of a news article and slant. It will teach students how to spot fake news and methods of determining whether a source is credible, skills that MCHS staff continually use in uncovering history.
“How to Analyze the News” will be held Saturday, Feb. 18, from 1-4 p.m. at The Charles A. Weyerhaeuser Memorial Museum in Little Falls.
This is a hands-on class, where attendees will have an opportunity to look through the bound volumes of local newspapers within the Morrison County Historical Society’s collection.

A minimum of five people need to be signed up for the class to be held. Class maximum size is 20.
