Food shelf results for March "Food Share Month"
The Staples Area Food Shelf collected $25,822 and 2,504 pounds of food during the March Food Share Month campaign.
“We would like to express our thanks to everyone that made it a success,” said Staples Food Shelf Director Fran Mertens. “It is wonderful to know how caring the people in our vicinity are at a time of need.”
Food shelf board members are Steve Sveom, Fran Mertens, Doreen Scott, Tom Brichacek Steve Pogreba, Phyllis Paskewitz and Jeanie Huebner.
“We are proud to be of service to our community and proud of the donators that continue to support us,” said Mertens.
Faith Lutheran Church held a FIT (Fashion, Items and Talent) event for the March Food Share Drive to raise funds for the local food shelves. A total of $9,776 was raised. Over the past fifteen years, Faith Lutheran has donated $114,000 to the local food shelves; with approximately 85 percent given to the Staples Food Shelf and 15 percent to the Motley Food Shelf.
