Governor’s visit

Al Kolling, left, president of the Staples Rotary Club, welcomed Rotary District 5580 Governor Herbert Schmidt and his wife Bonnie to a recent club meeting. The Schmidts currently live in Fargo, N. Dak., but originally are from Dickinson, N. Dak., same as Kolling. The theme for Rotary International this year is “Rotary Serving Humanity” and Schmidt reminded the club of the many regional, national and international projects and opportunities supported by individual clubs and their members. Schmidt’s vision focused on improving educational opportunities for children around the world, but also specifically in this district on improving literacy among the Native Americans.
