School board candidates to meet in forum
The Staples Motley Area Community Foundation is hosting a forum for school board candidates Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Staples-Motley High School’s Centennial Auditorium at 401 Centennial Lane, Staples.
Four candidates are running for three seats on the Staples-Motley School Board. They will be available to answer questions on issues facing the school district in a moderated forum setting.
The candidates are Creig Dobson, Greg Frisk, Chad Longbella and Bryan Winkels.
Longbella and Winkels currently serve on the board. Roy DiGiovanni holds the third seat and chose not to run again.
Questions will be taken from the audience. Members of the committee will collect the questions and organize for clarity and to avoid duplication. All candidates will have the opportunity to answer questions within a specific timeframe.
Each candidate will also have a set amount of time for opening and closing statements.
The candidates have also been invited to stay for awhile after the formal forum to meet individually with members of the audience. This gives the public an opportunity to further clarify a candidate’s position or to seek responses to concerns not raised during the forum.
Part of the foundation’s mission is to strengthen community resources. The forum was organized as another opportunity for community members to become informed voters for the Nov. 8 general election.
