Staples Police make an arrest after ER incident

Recent reports taken by the Staples Police Dept. include;

 On Nov. 7, Staples Police were dispatched to the Lakewood Health System emergency room for a report of a patient acting violently.  Upon arrival, police learned that the patient damaged numerous pieces of equipment in an exam room. The suspect, Brian Dehn, 48, of Browerville, was arrested on charges of damage to property and disorderly conduct. Also assisting was the Todd County Sheriff’s Dept.

Nov. 7; Staples Police responded to the 1400 block of 8th St. NE of a complainant receiving harassing telephone calls. Police advised the complainant to get an restraining order for harassment.

Nov. 9,; at 1:17 a.m., Staples Police observed an open garage door at a residence on 8th St. NE where  the officers knew the owner was incarcerated. Police found no one around the residence and closed the door. 

Nov.11; Staples Police were called to the 600 block of Wisconsin Ave. SE for a report of broken windows at a residence. 

Nov. 11; Staples Police received a report of a possible assault on the 300 block of 5th St SE. After speaking with the reported victim and others present, police learned the injuries were self inflicted and no assault had taken place.

Nov. 12; the Todd County Sheriff’s Dept. took a report of multiple gas thefts  from vehicles at a business just located just inside the county. Police gathered information for possible suspects and or related criminal activity.

Nov. 1; Staples Police received a request for a welfare check on an individual on the 700 block of Iowa Ave. NE. The complainant stated the subject had been consuming alcohol and was potentially suicidal. Police found the individual to be okay.

Nov. 13; Staples Police responded to the 300 block of Dakota Ave. SE for a welfare check. After speaking with the complainant, police were able to locate the subject of the welfare check and transported the subject to Lakewood Health System for an evaluation.
