Staples police report

Recent reports taken by the Staples Police Dept. include the following:

Nov. 2, Staples Police responded to Staples-Motley Elementary School for a student that ran away from the school. The student was returned.

Nov. 2, Staples Police put three abandoned bikes from the community center in the bicycle impound. The bikes are a blue Triathlon Pro Ironman, a black Eagle River Murray and a blue/silver MTN Sport SX Road Master. If these bikes belong to you contact the police 218-894-1841. 

Nov. 2, Staples Police responded to the 200 block of Cleveland Ave. SW for a report of suspicious activity, someone attempting to kick a door in of a residence. A party at the residence stated they were aware of who was at the door and stated he was fine and didn’t need assistance.

Nov. 3, Staples Police responded to the 400 block of 7th St. SE for a report of a domestic. When police arrived the suspect had left the residence, police spoke to the victim. After an investigation, police  determined the suspect would be arrested for domestic assault. The following day Albert Garza  turned himself into police and was arrested for domestic assault and interfering with an  emergency phone call.

Nov. 4, Staples Police took a report of two juvenile females pouring water from the overpass on to Hwy 10. Police located the juveniles and advised them of the consequences. 

Nov. 5, Staples Police took a report via text message stating a subject high on meth wanted to harm a Brainerd Police officer. Police assisted the reporting party with contacting Crow Wing County dispatch. 

Nov. 5, Staples Police conducted a welfare check on an individual on the 400 block of 8th St NE. When police contacted the individual he gave police a false name. Upon investigation police found the true identity of the subject, who was arrested for giving a false name to a police officer and for a warrant on a probation violation.

Nov. 6, Staples Police took a report of a possible domestic assault at a residence on Ravilla St. NE. The report will be forwarded to the Wadena County Attorney’s Office.
