The final butterfly to be released clung to the orange slice that was used to sustain the butterflies while they were growing. Cathy Perish gives the butterfly a chance to climb onto the fingers of the children. Thirty-three butterflies were released.

Charlie Funk, Sebeka, was a longtime agriculture teacher and FFA advisor at Motley High School. He is pictured with a scrapbook that contains photos, articles and awards from those years, including memorabilia about his being named Minnesota Teacher of the Year in 1979. Now retired, Funk continues to advise students in FFA, working with a few children whose parents he had taught when they were in high school. “They’re my FFA grandbabies,” Funk said.
