Letter to the Editor
My elderly mother had a physical therapy appointment Monday afternoon (Oct. 31) at Lakewood Health System. She sat on the bench inside the main entrance while I parked the car.
When I came in we went to PT and it was at that time that I asked her where her purse was. She said she must have left it in the car, or, I asked her if she left it on the bench where she was sitting. She said “I don’t know.”
I went looking for the missing purse and no, it was not on the bench and no one had turned a purse in to the information desk. Out to the car I went and there was no purse in the car. Back inside I asked again if someone had turned in the purse - no. Back to the car for another look - no purse. Back to the information desk - no purse. They took my name, mother’s name and phone number in case it turned up.
What a sick feeling to think about all the information you carry - Social Security number, bank card, check book, medical cards, etc., etc., etc., and now all the calls and reports that have to get done as soon as possible.
Well, thankfully, there is a Good Samaritan who made sure the purse got turned in to the right person; a Good Samaritan who took the extra step to find out that mother was still there and who made sure the purse was brought to the PT department.
Whoever you are, we are forever grateful to you and want you and our community to know how much we appreciate good people like you.
