FILING NOTICE
Notice is hereby given that the filings for the biennial election for the City of Staples will open at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 and will close at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2016.
Offices to be filled will be the Mayor and four City Council Members. The Mayor shall serve for a term of two (2) years. The three individuals receiving the highest number of votes for City Council Members shall serve for terms of four (4) years and the individual receiving the fourth highest number of votes for City Council Member shall serve for a term of two (2) years. Filings may be made at the Office of the City Clerk at the Staples City Hall. A filing fee of $2.00 is required.
The biennial election for the City of Staples will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2016.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is seeking comment on a proposal to designate as a trout stream a 0.1 mile section of Hay Creek, and undesignated a 4.9 mile section of Fawn Creek in Wadena County. Designated trout streams are those where conditions are suitable for trout and therefore are subject to special regulations to protect fish populations, water quality and habitat.
The affected portion of Hay Creek lies in Township 134, Range 33, Section 16.
The affected portions of Fawn Creek lies in Township 134; Range 32; Sections 22, 27, 33 and 34.
