Middle school students present Career Technical Education (CTE) Showcase

Motley-Staples Middle School students in grades six and seven had the opportunity to present their Career Technical Education (CTE) Showcase Jan. 13, for projects completed during the first semester.

The CTE classes are electives representing Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM). They are held each Friday for one and a half hours. Throughout this school year, the students will each have the opportunity to take two CTE classes.

“Kids are really enjoying these classes,” said Kasey Odden, who teaches the CTE class, From Cooking to Science. “They choose something they are interested in; and there’s a lot of creativity involved.” Odden went on to note that the teachers are responsible for coming up with the various CTE classes.

The CTE class options for both semesters of the 2016 - 2017 school year include:

o From Cooking to Science

o Extreme Eccentric Engineering

o Fantasy Football

o Movie Magic

o Nutrition and Wellness

o Picture Perfect Publishing

o Robotics

o Tinkercad

o This and That

o Virtual Vacations.

Students will now begin work on their second semester CTE classes.
