The Pillager Fair runs July 7-10

Dancing, an ATV mud run, and a Kiddie Tractor Pull are on the agenda for the 118th Cass County Fair in Pillager, scheduled for July 7 - 10 at the Pillager Fairgrounds.

There is something for all ages. Adults and young people alike will enjoy the food specials (including a broasted chicken dinner available on Sunday and ice cream social on Saturday); and the fireworks Saturday night promise to be spectacular.

No fair would be complete without animals, and the Pillager Fair is no exception. Horse judging events take place both Friday and Saturday mornings. After the show, be sure to check out the variety of entries in the exhibit building. Other fair happenings are listed below:

Thursday

Entry day. Commercial vendors (rides, booths, etc.) and competition exhibitors will be setting up. 

Although there will not be any activities open on Thursday, the food booth will be available from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. and visitors are welcome. 

Friday

It’s ‘Kid’s Day and Dancing’ on Friday.

Stop by at 8 a.m. for breakfast (food booths will be open) and visit the horse judging arena and exhibit booths beginning at 9 a.m. 

Tours of the Little Huskies Day Care will be offered beginning at 10 a.m.; and from 1 - 3 p.m. check out the food specials. The beer garden opens at 3 p.m.

A ‘Kiddie Tractor Pull’ will be held at 5:30 p.m. (registration begins at 5 p.m.) and listen to music presented by the ‘Kings Ransom’ Band from 8 p.m. - midnight.

Saturday

A parade, ATV Mud Run  and fireworks will take place on Saturday. 

The parade, which travels downtown Pillager along River St., begins at 10 a.m.; and at 1 p.m.,  a Texas Hold’em Tourney begins.  Don’t miss the ice cream social, from 2 - 4 p.m.; the UTS Mud Run at 7 p.m.; or the fireworks, which begin at 10 p.m.

Throughout the day, the food booth will be open, as will the exhibition building. The Beer Garden will be open from noon - midnight.

Sunday

The fair opens at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, with a worship service led by First Lutheran Church of Pillager and Pastor Bob Osell. 

Stay for a broasted chicken dinner at noon, provided by Kim Gibbs of KC’s Saloon. Tickets will be sold in advance and at the door.

The fair closes at 3 p.m.

Free eye screening/diabetes checking

The Pillager Lions (along with assistance from Lakewood Health System) will sponsor free eye screenings to check for glaucoma; and testing for blood pressure and blood sugar. Stop by their booth at the fairgrounds from noon - 5 p.m. on Friday, July 8 and Saturday, July 9. These health screenings are available to both children and adults.
