Hengemuhle Dairy to host Todd County dairy tour
Hengemuhle Dairy of Long Prairie will host the 2016 Todd County Dairy Tour, Thursday July 7 from 10:30 a.m. -1 p.m.
Hengemuhle Dairy is located at 20260 215th Ave., Long Prairie, (six miles southwest) of Long Prairie. Watch for signs.
The tour will focus on Hengemuhle’s new freestall barn, parlor, sand bedded freestalls and manure handling system.
Lunch will be provided. Sponsors include AgStar Financial Services, Osakis Creamery, U of MN Extension, and the Central MN Dairy Profit Team.
Ron and Brenda Hengemuhle farm together with their three children: Nikki Andreasen, Danny Hengemuhle and Matt Hengemuhle. The Hengemuhles milk 160 cows in a swing eight parallel parlor and the cows are housed in a six row sand bedded freestall barn.
The facility was built in 2014-2015 and features maternity pens, cow brushes, a teat scrubber and variable speed fan control for the freestall barn fans. The facility is built to be conducive for a future expansion.
To promote good herd health practices when visiting farms, wear clothing that’s been washed and not worn in other livestock facilities since washing. Plastic boots will be provided.
