The Staples Area Men’s Chorus will be joining other men’s choruses at Carnegie Hall in New York City Feb. 19 where they will perform “Testament of Freedom” under the direction of Dr. Lee Nelson.
Although the schedule for the chorus is packed with rehearsals and performance time, many members have carved out time to enjoy such things as Broadway musicals, Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty, the 9/11 Memorial and many other sites that are trademarks of NYC.
The traveling entourage of 28 chorus members and 28 other friends and family will leave Thursday, Feb. 16, and settle in for a four-hour rehearsal Friday, a three and one half hour rehearsal Saturday and a two hour rehearsal Sunday morning.
The concert will be performed at 1 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 19, in the famous The Isaac Stern Auditorium, the main location inside Carnegie Hall. It will be followed by a gala celebration of all participants and their wives which is sponsored by Distinguished Concerts International of New York (DCINY).
