Vietnam era veteran event set

he Hewitt Historical Society in partnership with the Captain Robert Orr Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will host a Vietnam Era War Commemoration event on July 16 at 1 p.m. at the Hewitt Museum.

The Vietnam Era display and reception held during Hewitt’s “Pickle Days” community celebration is to thank and honor all  veterans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces regardless of location, from Nov. 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975.

Veterans or family members of veterans attending the event are encouraged to bring photographs to share from time served in the military.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is a group of women able to trace their lineage to the Revolutionary War.

DAR focuses on serving their communities while promoting patriotism with projects for veterans, historic preservation and education.

The Hewitt Museum is at 514 Wisconsin Street in Hewitt. Regular hours for the museum are Sundays from 1 - 5 p.m., May through October.
