Lakewood’s Care Center gets oral healthcare grant
Lakewood Health System Care Center recently received a $45,000 grant from Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation which will offer care center residents increased access to oral healthcare, as well as help develop relationships with community dentists and optometrists by providing coordinated care to meet residents’ needs and preferences in the delivery of high-quality, personalized care.
With this funding, LHS Care Center will provide support for purchasing equipment and other direct costs related to preparing an exam room for the geriatric population.
“Having dental services available for the resident on-site, in their home, is going to be a fantastic option,” said Kathy Dobson, LHS Vice President of Senior Services. “We look forward to working with our residents, families and communities on this expanded service option; and appreciate the support from Delta Dental to make this possible.”
Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation focuses on choosing grant recipients who show innovative strategies in expanding oral health access for Minnesota’s underserved populations; demonstrate significant opportunity to promote and expand preventive and education services; and show an ability to measure results.
“Lakewood has provided care to this community for 80 years and we are pleased for the opportunity to support them in their efforts to ensure good oral health care for patients in all ages of need,” said Joe Lally, Executive Director of Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation.
