LHS Care Center receives grant

Resident dining experience to be enhanced

Lakewood Health System Care Center recently received a grant from the State of Minnesota Department of Human Services Nursing Facility Performance-Based Incentive Payment Program (PIPP) to enhance the dining room experience for its residents. The $425,377 grant will be given out between January, 2017 and December, 2018.

With these grant funds, Lakewood plans to focus on the implementation of a new dining room process which will give residents a more “at home” feeling when dining. An interdisciplinary process improvement team has been meeting to develop a project plan to address a new dining process, equipment needs, a communication plan and education to nursing staff and providers, which will include an evaluation and auditing plan.

“This grant allows us the freedom to explore options for improving our meal service to residents without having cost restrictions,” said Lakewood Director of Nutrition Services, Jill Heinen. “The ultimate goal is to provide a meal service that satisfies all resident’s needs.”
