First baby in 2016 at Lakewood Health System
Nicole Rassmussen and Travis Stokke’s son Reid was the first baby born at Lakewood Health System in 2016. Reid was born at 7:29 a.m. on Jan. 4, weighing six pounds, eleven ounces and was 20 inches long. He will join big sister Quinn and big brother Easton at the family’s home in Brainerd.
Pictured at left, Mary Theurer representing the Piecemakers Quilt Club, which donates a quilt to the first baby of the year born at Lakewood Health System. The hospital auxillary also donates cash to the first baby. Behind the family is Dr. Sarah Israelson, the attending doctor for the birth who was assisted by RN Bryan Kavanaugh.
Rassmussen said “We’re excited, we loved our doctor and the whole experience.”
In 2015, 425 babies were born at Lakewood Health System in Staples.
