Motley area law enforcement reports

Recent reports from the Motley Police Department (MPD) and the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) included the following:

Aug. 3 - The MPD assisted the Staples Police Department with a juvenile who was out of control.

Aug. 2 - The MPD assisted the MCSO and Scandia Valley first response team with a four-year-old girl who had been pulled from under the water at Lake Shamineau.

Aug. 1 - The MPD responded to a call from the Motley Motel. Caller stated that there was a lot of yelling going on between apartments one and two, occupied by a mother and daughter, respectively.

Aug. 1 -  The MPD received a call from an employee at the BP Station in Motley regarding suspicious activity. Caller states she found a blue zip-up pouch in the store’s bathroom during the overnight shift. The pouch contained  four checkbooks belonging to different people from Albert Lea, Edina, and Brooklyn, N.Y.

July 30 - The MPD issued a speeding citation to a juvenile boy. At the traffic stop, the officer detected an odor of marijuana but did not find anything during a vehicle search. The officer called the boy’s mother to inform her of the situation. She thanked him for calling and stated she had already been informed by her son.

July 30 - The MPD issued speeding citations to Yolanda Beltran, 45; Kristi Obrien, 49; Robert Olsen, 37; Zachary Woltjer, 23; Derek Lewis, 30.

July 29 - The MPD received a call from a Motley resident regarding a bear that tried to gain access to the trunk of his car which contained some bird seed. The vehicle was damaged by the bear.

July 28 - The MPD arrested John Mullen, 60, for fifth degree assault. He was arrested at a residence on River Front Ln. in Motley, on a felony Hennepin County warrant.

Aug. 3 - The MCSO assisted the Motley Fire Department with a two-vehicle accident on Hwy 64 in Motley.
