Staples Police check on people in cold weather

The Staples Police Department responded to cold weather concerns during the recent cold snap. The following are from the police report:

Jan. 14, at 2 a.m., Staples Police assisted the Wadena County Sheriff’s Dept. with transporting a subject who had been walking on Hwy  210 to their residence in rural Motley.

Jan. 17, at 4:39 a.m., Staples Police observed a female subject walking on the 1000 block of 4th St NE. Due to the extremely cold temperatures, Police assisted the subject by giving her a ride to work.

Jan. 17, at 5:42 a.m., Staples Police received a report of a male subject who was reported to be walking in, or near, the City of Staples. The reporting party was concerned that the subject was believed to be intoxicated. The male subject was located by the reporting party a short time later at a residence near the intersection of Wadena Cty Rd 2 and Wadena Cty Rd 26. Also responding to assist were Todd County Sheriff’s Dept, Wadena County Sheriff’s Dept, MN State Patrol and Staples Fire Department.

Jan. 11., Staples Police responded to 4th St NE of a report of an ATV that ran a stop sign and almost hit the complainant’s vehicle. Police were unable to locate the ATV.

Jan. 12, Staples Police received a report of suspicious activity on the 100 bock of 7th St. NE where a vehicle owner has found screws in his tires on three separate occasions.
