Thriving Communities Initiative to begin tonight

LEAP and the Economic Development Authority (EDA) are sponsoring the start of the Initiative Foundation’s Thriving Communities project this year in Staples. Information sessions will be held at city hall on Thursday Jan.7 and Jan. 14 at 5:30 p.m. Everyone ages 14 and up is invited to attend. 

Community members will hear about the new community project and how to become involved.

The information sessions will be presented by the Initiative Foundation. Per the Foundation’s website, the “Thriving Communities Initiative is designed to inspire good ideas in community and economic development, focusing on those communities that want to attract and retain skilled workers and young families.”

With three of Staples’ businesses expanding in the next few years, the city of Staples has the potential to grow in economic development and population. The Thriving Communities project will help the city identify the current needs of the community and identify goals for improvement in the next five years.

To be successful, the Thriving Communities project will need a wide range of community members to share their experience and input. This information will be used to create an action plan for the community leadership team to follow over the next three years.
