Verie Zillmer

Verie Grace Zillmer, 90, of Staples, passed away April 9, 2021 at the Lakewood Care Center. 

Memorial services were held April 19 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Staples. 

Verie was born March 18, 1931 to Henry and Kate Broers. She was raised on the family farm near Gary, one of 15 children. Verie was proud of her German heritage. She worked as a salesperson for Batcher’s Department Store in Staples and later sold antiques until her retirement. Verie enjoyed socializing with customers and ensuring everyone found what they needed and more. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, garage saleing and playing cards. Verie walked strongly in her Christian faith and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She taught her sons honesty, integrity and the value of being a Christian. Verie was witty, loving and caring and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Verie is survived by three sons, Vernon “Junior” Rinerson of Staples, Roger (Sharon) Rinerson of Elk River and Steven Sorkness of Buena Vista, GA; three grandchildren, Vernon Rinerson, III, Nicole Blanchette and Megan Rinerson; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Delores and Dudley; many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 12 siblings, Marie, Walter, George, Agnes, Frank, Kathryn, Dorothy, Harry, Evelyn, Helen, Leo and Beverly..
