Alice Sather

Alice Sather, 102, of Wadena and formerly of Staples went to be with her Lord and Savior May 27, 2021.

Services will be held Sat., June 19 at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples to celebrate Alice’s long life, lived well.

Alice was born May 7, 1919 to Louis and Anna Beilke, just after the start of WWII. She grew up on the family farm near Bertha. Alice married Don Bergeson. Shortly after their marriage, Uncle Sam invited Don to take a trip overseas. He was killed in the Battle of Iwo Jima. Young Alice said goodbye to her first love. Years later, while working as an operator for Northwestern Bell, she met and married Henry Sather. Alice and Henry lived contently on 6th Street NE in Staples, just a few blocks from their beloved Faith Lutheran Church where the couple spent countless hours serving our Lord.

As one after another of her friends and family said their goodbyes, Alice held up very well - until her ever-so-special sister, Betty Judkins passed away on May 7, 2021. Alice had just celebrated her 102nd birthday with family and friends. As a close friend was quoted, “Our angel with the skin on has left us, but that’s okay. She’s where she want to be.”

Alice is survived by one nephew, John (Jodie) Judkins, their son, Dan, their two daughters, Amanda (Mike) Dandle and Hannah Judkins and her son, Nathan Judkins; one great-niece, Brazia Dandle and many family and friends.
