Nelson rewarded for reading 1,000 books
Payton Nelson read 1,000 books before kindergarten. “We come to the library every week,” said her mother, Lacey Aguirre. The Staples-Motley Early Childhood Coalition and Staples Library rewarded Nelson with a stuffed animal and a book that goes along with it. Pictured, Beth Fabian of the Early Childhood Coalition holds the book Nelson chose, “On the Night You Were Born,” while Nelson holds her stuffed polar bear, Agguire holds the 1,000 book certificate and at right is Angie Johnson of the Staples Library.
Children who haven’t entered kindergarten are invited to pick up a book journal and book bag for the program, to help them count the number of books they read. “It’s the best thing you can do for your kiddo,” said Fabian. (Staples World photo by Mark Anderson)
