Robert Thorn, Jr.
Robert (Bobby) E. Thorn, Jr., of Motley passed away April 18, 2023.
Services will be held Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Motley.
Robert was born March 11, 1953 to Robert and Mable Thorn in Alexandria.
Bob graduated from Motley High School in 1972. While there he played football, basketball and baseball. He married Rebecca Tessier.
He worked for the University of Minnesota Arboretum for over 30 years. For holiday celebrations at the arboretum like Halloween he would dress up as different characters and also play Santa at Christmas. His joy was playing Santa Claus, listening to the children and having his picture taken with the pets. He enjoyed a good cribbage game at lunch time when not welding at work. Bob enjoyed fishing trips with his buddies - cousin Gene and Tom “Taco” Kramer - longtime friend as well as many other friends.
Bob is survived by one son, Andrew; one daughter Paloma Johnson; three granddaughters, Britney, Madison, Kaitlyn; two sisters, Gayle (Bruce) Quinn and twin sister, Robin Kramer; one brother, Gary (Peggie) Thorn and good friend, Janet Shelton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Becky; one sister, Bobette Pedersen and one brother-in-law, Tom Kramer.
