Lowell Hoffman
Lowell Hoffman, 93, of Staples, passed away October 9, 2023, in Staples.
Funeral services were held October 16 at Faith Lutheran Church, Staples.
Burial was at Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake.
Lowell was born October 12, 1929, to Lewis and Florence Hoffman in Spiral Siding, North Dakota. He grew up in Kenmare, ND, where he graduated from high school. In 1951, he joined the U.S. Marines and served in California as a Frogman. During that same year, he married his wife, Carolle Anderson.After his service in the Marines, Lowell started working with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, where he had a successful 35-year career. He was stationed at several locations throughout the U.S. working in various roles with the highlight of his career at Boston, MA as the Assistant Regional Director, covering the 13 northeastern states. He transferred from Boston to Bloomington and retired from the Federal building.
In 1992, his wife of 41 years passed away. In 1994 Lowell married his current wife, Virginia. He enjoyed many good years in retirement, enjoying fishing and golfing until his health deteriorated.
Lowell is survived by his wife, Virginia; four children, Janice (Bill) McCullough, Bernadine (Steve) Walker, Greg (Colleen) Hoffman, and Scott (Pamela Anderson) Hoffman; Virginia’s four children, Jody (Brad) Farber, Bob (Kay) Mueller, Kevin (Jackie) Mueller and James (Kim) Mueller; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; many loving relatives and friends.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolle; three brothers and two sisters.
Arrangements were by the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
