Daniel Owen, Sr.

Daniel Clifford Owen, Sr., 74, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026. 

Services were held May 19, at the Motley Free Methodist Church.

Daniel was born July 4, 1951, to Jordan “John” and Clistia Ann (Parker) Owen in Willmar.

Daniel proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard, an experience he greatly enjoyed and often spoke about with pride. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend whose greatest joy in life came from spending time with his family. Daniel enjoyed family picnics, gatherings outdoors and sitting together visiting for hours. He was happiest when surrounded by his grandchildren and the daycare children he cared for so deeply.

Daniel found peace and happiness in gardening and tending to his plants. Whether working in the garden or sharing time with loved ones, he was known for his generous spirit. Daniel was a man who never asked for much for himself, but freely gave whatever he could to others. His kindness, warmth and selflessness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Daniel is lovingly survived by his wife, Linda Lee Owen (VanNorman); six children, Dawn (Millard) Houser, Dennis Brusewitz, David (Tayna) Brusewitz, Diane Brusewitz, Donald Brusewitz and Daniel (Shelly) Owen; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters; extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Patricia Briscoe and one niece, Christina Owen.

Arrangements were by Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
