Winter reading program at Staples Public Library
The 2017 Winter Reading Program at Great River Regional Library began Jan. 3 and continues through Tuesday, Feb. 28. The theme is “Escape the Ordinary,” and readers are encouraged to explore reading options outside their normal choices.
Participants must be in 6th grade or older. Individuals can register to “Escape the Ordinary” online at griver.org or at any of the 32 Great River Regional Library locations in Central Minnesota.
Each person who registers will be given a drawing slip to use to record books they read as part of the program. Completed drawing slips for each five books read (or listened to) can be used in prize drawings for collectible Winter Reading Program mugs and gift cards. All prizes are provided by the St. Cloud Friends of the Library.
On Saturday, Jan. 21, the library will host “Escape the Ordinary” trivia, its second annual Winter Reading Program trivia contest. The trivia contest is for 6th grade and older.
Play will take place on the library’s website, griver.org and begins at 10 a.m., with new questions posted every 10 minutes until 4:50 p.m. People play as individuals or as teams to help their branch library receive the Traveling Trivia trophy. Answers to all questions can be found using the library website.
