Anthony Young

Anthony (Tony) K. Young, 77, of Staples, passed away February 19, 2025 at Lakewood Care Center in Staples. 

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, at the Church of Christ in Staples, with Pastor Barry Klein officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

Anthony was born November 10, 1947 to Patrick and Bertha (Lee) Young in Staples.

He grew up on a farm west of Staples and joined the U.S. Army in 1968. He was employed for many years as a bus driver for the Staples Bus Company and in later years as a truck driver. Tony was a life member of the Staples Church of Christ where he especially enjoyed Tuesday men’s night.

Tony will be deeply missed by his wife, Dorothy; one son, Kevin (Tracy) Young; three daughters,  Christine Young, Alicia (Rene) Hernandez and Molly Young; eight grandchildren, Samantha (Shane) Stauffer, Jared Manuel, Jailyn Manuel, Wade Tornow, Thomas Hernandez, Brock Graton, Axel Young, Callie Young; one sister, Marcy Young and one sister-in-law, Judy Young.

Tony is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Toby Young and Mort Young; two sisters, Gwen (Clarence) Schoon and DeeDee Young and one granddaughter, Juliana Hernandez.

Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home of Staples.
