Carol Vukelich
Carol Juliene “Kaye” Vukelich, 83, of Staples, passed away peacefully May 11, 2021, at the St Cloud Hospital.
Funeral services were held May 17 at the Staples Alliance Church.
Carol (better known as Kaye) was born in Staples on March 5, 1938 to LeRoy and Gladys (Rots) Kennedy. She was baptized in the United Methodist Church of Staples. Kaye attended both Lincoln grade school and Staples High School, graduating in 1956. While attending school she worked at Skelly’s Café, Wimpy’s Café & Nettie’s Café. After graduation she worked at Minneapolis Honeywell until the death of her mother in 1957 when she came home to care for her father. Kaye married William Vukelich on July 4, 1959 in Staples. Kaye worked at Staples Rexall Drug, McCourtney’s and The Mary Rondoff Home. While living temporarily in White Bear Lake, Kaye worked at Taymark and came home every weekend to Staples.
Kaye was a member of the VFW Post Auxiliary 1910. Her hobbies included fishing, gardening and reading. Her favorite pastime was spending time on her back porch and enjoying her flowers.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 61 years, Bill; two sons, Chad, Chet (Nina) and one daughter, Fawnya (Tim Dawson) Day; three sisters, Betty (Ron) Starke, Eulalia Schultz and Edie Sapp; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Beulah; four brothers, Dick, Bob, Roy and Elton; one daughter-in-law, LaVonne Vukelich and great-grandson, Cody.
