Dennis Lucas

Dennis Lucas, 64, of Motley, passed away peacefully November 18, 2017, at the Lakewood Health Systems Care Center in Staples, following a courageous, 17-year battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Funeral services will be held Nov. 22, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Motley, with Reverend Paul Koehler officiating.

Arrangements were with the Brenny Funeral Home of Staples.

Dennis Walter Lucas was born August 27, 1953 in Moorhead, to Ray and Evelyn (Hales) Lucas. He grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo South High School. He married Nancy Motl on May 13, 1994, in Brainerd. Dennis worked at Morey’s Seafood in Motley for 37 years. He was a member of the Motley Lions club, was a Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved and valued his family and the time he spent with them.

Dennis is survived by his wife; one stepson, Jeremy (Jodi) Jasmer of Alexandria; one brother, Ed (Hope) Lucas of Staples; three sisters, Carol (Richard) Edgerly of West Fargo, ND, Linda Lucas of Motley and Sandy (Jim) Griebel of Delano; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents and one brother, Raymond.
