Dianna Spencer

Dianna Spencer, 73, of Wadena, passed away January 15, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Park Rapids.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 19, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena, with Father Aaron Kuhn, celebrant.

Burial was in the Wadena Cemetery, Wadena.

Arrangements were with the Schuller Family Funeral Homes, Wadena.

Dianna Mae Henrich was born May 6, 1944, to Vincent and dorothy (Berg) Henrich, at the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Staples, graduated from Wadena High School and attended a trade school. 

Dianna married Lyle Lee Spencer, of Huntersville, on Oct. 26, 1963 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena. Along with raising their children, they were also foster parents during the 1960s and into the 1990s. Dianna treasured time spent with family and friends. She enjoyed nature, listening to the birds and Seek-A-Word puzzles.

She is survived by three daughters, Sherry (Lance) Linnes of Livingston, TX, Jenifer (Dexter Paulson) Hotakainen of Menahga and Cara Ruwersma of Fargo, ND; two sons, Russell Columbus of Minneapolis and Stuart (Jenny) Ruwersma of Lester Prairie; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Kathy Barnhart of San Antonio, TX; two brothers, Michael (Sue) Henrich of Winsted and Vince “Vinnie” Henrich of Wadena; in-laws, Dave (Gwyn) Spencer of Nashville, TN and Larry (Mary) Spencer of Zimmerman; sisters-in-law, Carol Spencer of Wadena; Paul Strong of Apple Valley and Ruth Sanders of Hopkins; and numerous nieces, nephews and many foster children.

Dianna was preceded in death by her husband; parents; in-laws, Stuart and Jenni Spencer; two brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; one great-granddaughter  and one niece.
