Donald Henry
Donald Eugene Henry, 88, Staples, died peacefully November 12, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
A remembrance event will be held Saturday, Nov. 18, .
Donald was born in Kansas in 1929, to James and Edna (Ellerman) Henry. He joined the U.S. Air Force after high school and served as a staff seargeant from 1948 to 1952. He spent 21 months in the Aleutian Islands, serving in the meteorology department. Following his discharge from the air force went to work for the National Weather Service, where he worked for 30 years. Don’s interests included geneology, wood carving, music, history, philosophy and the great outdoors.
Don is survived by two sons, Michael (Lauri) Henry and David (Julie) Henry; five daughters, Karen (Gary) Pipek, Colleen (Scott) Swantner, Sheila (Scott) Becker, Sara (Mark) Hoemberg, Merrie (Dennis) Breitenfeldt; step-daughter Lora (Legrende) Petty; three sisters and one brother.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laurida.
