Duane Castle

Duane Castle, 72, of New York Mills, passed away  at his home November 16, 2018, with the care of LB Hospice.   

Gravesite services were held Nov. 23 at Richville City Cemetery, Richville.

Arrangements were by the Karvonen Funeral Service of New York Mills.

Duane Ronald Castle was born on March 23, 1946 in Perham to Dorsey and Myrtle (Hanson) Castle. He grew up in Seattle, WA where he graduated from the West Seattle High School with the class of 1964. Duane made his home in Minneapolis, returning to Seattle in 1974 where he was employed with Consolidated Freightways for 30 years. Retiring in 2008, Duane made his home in rural New York Mills where he enjoyed working part time for Kenny’s Candy in the maintenance department. Duane met LaVonne (Perala) Schaeffer, an old childhood friend, and they shared many years together. 

Duane is survived by one son, Brian (Fawn) Castle of Staples; one daughter, Amy Castle of Seattle, WA; one granddaughter, Neveah; six siblings: Melvin Castle of Xenia, OH; JoAnne Buchanen of Melrose; Marlys Johnson of Bellingham, WA; Darrell (Janice) Castle of Seattle, WA; Roger (Janice) Castle of Seattle, WA; Shirley (Art) Buntrock of Ottertail; many other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Bonnie; companion, LaVonne; sister-in-law, Esther; brother-in-law, Kent.
