Eugene Resch

Eugene Robert Resch, 89, of Staples passed away peacefully at home November 17, 2017, with his family by his side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be  held Nov. 22 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples.

Arrangements were by Brenny Funeral Home, Staples.

Eugene was born in Milford, Iowa on February 15, 1928, to John and Mary (Tinkham) Resch.  He grew up on the family farm, and was drafted into the U.S. Army during WWII.  He was married to Eileen Gaffke and they had eight children. Gene and Eileen worked together at their flooring business, Resch Tile and Carpet,  in Staples. Eugene later married Judy Lamkin. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the American Legion in Wadena. During their years together, Eugene and Judy enjoyed traveling and entertaining. 

Eugene is survived by  his wife, Judy, of 34 years;  five daughters, Marcy (Cliff) Cederholm of Baudette, Yolanda (Mike) Koppes, Melissa Shriver, Carla Kuchinski and Christine (Todd) Tollefson all of Staples of Staples; one son, Jim Resch of Brainerd, 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one brother, Dale (Nancy) Resch of Fish Trap Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Leroy; one daughter, Patty; two sons, Robert and Daniel; one grandchild, Cindy Cederholm; one sister, Gen Ludovissie and three brothers, Clarence, Tony and Jerome Resch.
