George Brichacek, 89, of Browerville, passed away June 15, 2018 in Staples.
Funeral services were held June 21 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville with Fr. Mitchell Bechtold officiating.
Interment was at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery, Browerville.
Arrangements are with the Iten Funeral Home, Browerville.
George was born, December 29, 1928, at home in Moran Township, Todd County, to Joseph and Marie (Borgert) Brichacek. He attended District 132 (2348) through the eighth grade, graduating in 1947, from Clarissa High School. He was baptized, had his First Communion and Confirmation at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Browerville. George worked with his parents on the dairy farm until 1949. George married Bethel Shannan on June 9, 1949, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Motley. He worked for White Feed Mill of Green Isle and for Floyd Jares Construction, Staples, before purchasing the family farm in 1951. He continued farming until his retirement in 1991.
George was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus, past member of District 132 School Board and the Browerville Co-op Creamery Association. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, woodworking, making diamond willow canes and walking sticks, playing cards with his friends and enjoying time with family.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Rick (Marilyn) Brichacek and Lonnie Brichacek; three daughters, Kerry (Dennis) Finn, Kristi (Ken) Biermaier and Kimberly (Ken) Wuollet; daughter-in-law, Patricia Brichacek; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; three great-great -grandchildren; two sisters: Leona Brichacek of Hopkins and Joyce (Gary) Gaida of Edina.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one son, Bradley Brichacek.
