Janet Nanik
Janet Nanik 79, of Staples, died October 8, 2017, at home.
Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m at the Oylen Alliance Tabernacle, near Verndale. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6 p.m. at the Karvonen Funeral Home in Wadena. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
Interment will be held at West Lyons Cemetery, Verndale.
Arrangements are provided by Karvonen Funeral and Cremation Services of Wadena.
Janet Hazel (Davis) Nanik was born Feb. 23, 1938 to Maurice and Hazel (Chumley) Davis in Pine River. She grew up in rural Pine River and graduated from Pine River High School in 1956.
Janet was united in marriage to Russell Nanik on June 30, 1956 in Oylen. After marriage, they lived in Minneapolis, Isabella, Longville and settled in Staples in 1964. Janet was active as the Bullard Township Supervisor and a member of the Wadena County Zoning Board.
She enjoyed bowling, coin collecting, metal detecting, skiing and spending time with her grandchildren.
Janet is survived by her husband; three sons, Blaine Nanik, Craig (Sue) Nanik and Joe (Brenda) Nanik, all of Staples; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elsie (Herb) Hanson of Motley and Verone Nelson of Babbit; one brother, Maurice Davis of Pine River and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Arlene Head and brother, Edwin Davis.
