Jaqueline Olson
Jacqueline (Jacque) Elaine Olson, 86, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away November 5, 2023.
A memorial service will be held Sat., December 16, at 12:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo (119 Central Avenue).
Born February 26, 1937, to Charles and Wilhelmina (Enander) Waln in Moorhead. Jacqueline was a woman of remarkable warmth, generosity and unwavering love for her family and friends.
After graduating from Staples High School, Jacqueline pursued her passion for nursing, earning her degree from Glenwood Hills College. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Olson, and they were united in marriage in July, 1960. Her nursing career took her to various hospitals, including Staples Hospital, North Memorial in Robbinsdale and Camden Physicians where her dedication to her patients and colleagues was widely recognized. Her commitment to the well-being of others was a testament to her character and heart.
Jacqueline’s kindness extended beyond her profession. She was kind and always willing to help when needed. She had a talent for crafting and crocheting, creating beautiful afghan blankets she shared with her family and friends on special occasions. Throughout decades of annual family gatherings for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas, Jacque’s contribution of holiday appropriate crafts, her awesome holiday cut-out and frosted sugar cookies and legendary “pink salad”, were what everyone looked forward to. Jacque made the holidays special. She took pride in the decorations she put up and wrapped each present with love and care.
Jacque loved to travel, but cherished most were her visits to Oregon, spending time with family and relatives and the Oregon coast which she loved - and See’s candy. Her many trips to Canada with her husband and son to spend time with other family and friends by the lake were some of her fondest memories as well. She was the best Mom and will be missed so much.
She is survived by one son, Charles (Brenda); one granddaughter, Vanessa; two brothers, Kim (Jeanne) Waln and Mike (Diane) Waln; one aunt, LaVern Scherner; as well as eight nieces and nephews, Ryan, Lindsay, Stephanie, Kristina and Jared of Minnesota, and Bruce, Tammy and Brian of Oregon and a host of other relatives and wonderful friends.
Jacqueline is preceded in death by her husband, Bob; parents; one sister, Charlene Coe and two nephews, Brad and Jason.
Arrangements are by The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo. Messages of condolence for the family may be shared at www.thepetersonchapel.com.
