Jean Flack
Jean Corinne Flack, 88, of Park Rapids passed away October 14, 2023, peacefully at home surrounded by her husband and three children.
Services were held October 21 at the Peace Lutheran Church near Nevis.
Jean was born December 22, 1934 at home in Aastad Township, Ottertail County, to Palmer and Mildred (Haarstad) Baasen. The family later moved to Moorhead where Jean graduated from high school in 1952. Jean married O. Allen Flack on December 29, 1952.
Jean and Al moved to Staples in 1959 where they raised their four children. After their children were all school-aged, Jean worked as a nurse’s aide at Staples Hospital. Jean also worked in various capacities at Benson Optical for many years. In 1986, she completed her training as an LPN and worked at the nursing care center in Staples for several years.
In 1992 Jean and Al moved to their home on Island Lake north of Park Rapids where they enjoyed many years together. In 2018 they moved to Crystal Brook Senior Living Center in Park Rapids.
Jean was an active member in her church homes over the years. She participated in Bible studies, Circle, Altar Guild and served as a Stephen Minister. She was a member of the Sons of Norway. Jean enjoyed family, traveling, playing bridge, quilting, rosemaling, solving cryptoquip puzzles and time with her book and birthday club friends. Jean and Al made the BEST lefse ever.
Jean is survived by Al, her husband of 70 years; one son. John (Jan) Flack of Moorhead; two daughters, Carol (Carl) Larson of Baxter and Becky (Bryan) Lambrechts of Milbank, SD; six grandchildren, Jenny Flack, Dennis Flack, Jonathan Larson, Christian Larson, Erik Lambrechts and Amanda Lambrechts and nine great-grandchildren.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Plinny Haarstad and one son, Paul Flack.
