June Hanson

June Ida Hanson, 88, of Staples, passed away at Lakewood Health System October 30, 2020.

Funeral services will be held Thurs., Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. at the Motley Free Methodist Church. Visitation will be held at the Taylor Funeral Home in Staples, Nov. 11 from 5 to 7 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church in Motley. 

June was born in Poplar Township on June 17, 1932 to Harvey and Mary Jane (Matthews) Dumpprope. She married Donald M. Hanson on April 10, 1950; Together they raised their family near Leader. June was a hard-working farm wife. Between the children and her huge gardens, she kept the home together. She spent endless hours gardening, canning, making hundreds of jars of fruits, vegetables and meats each year. She also enjoyed her beautiful flower gardens. She always had an open door for visitors and loved to feed people. She was always cooking something and liked making desserts. 

She will be deeply missed by her nine children, Jeanne (Steve) Dailey of Oylen, Charlie Hanson of Rapid City, SD, Peggy (John) Sirucek of Leader, Glenda (Gary) Dauer of Leader, John (Sandra) Hanson of Absarokee, MT, Connie (Kenny) Winter of Verndale, Dale Hanson of Motley, Leasha (Bryan) Nyland of Leader, Larry (Laura) Hanson of Motley; daughter-in-law, Donna Hanson of Leader;  many grandchildren; great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evon Cory of Staples and Joyce (Bob) Dailey of Staples; two sisters-in-law, Elsie Hanson of Motley and Carolyn Sankey of Bloomington and one brother-in-law, Jim VanBlaricom of Idaho.

June is preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Don; one son, Rick; infant daughter, Patricia; granddaughter, Emmi; great-grandson, Zachary; two sisters, Maybelle Cory and Velma VanBlaricom and five brothers, Milford, Bill, Donald, Larry and Steve.
