Katherine Anderson, 90, of Motley passed away November 26, 2016, at Lakewood Health System Care Center, Staples.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m., at the Motley Free Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. at the church prior to services.
Interment will be at Motley City Cemetery.
Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service, Staples.
Katherine Mae Anderson was born February 3, 1926 in Grove Lake Township, near Glenwood, to James W. and Olive “Ollie” (Alberts) McDougle. In 1969, she married Phillip H. Anderson in North Dakota. She worked as a cook at Island View Lodge for many years and at several other places as a cook. She collected cookbooks, recipes, enjoyed baking and decorating wedding and birthday cakes, gardening, quilting and raising dogs. She was a member of Staples Alliance Church for many years, later attending Motley Free Methodist Church with her son.
Katherine is survived by three daughters, Beverly Herman, Baxter, Barbara (Roy) Dobson, Chisholm and Marion (Rod) Beller, of Staples; two sons, Dwight “Ike” VanVickle and Robert (Wendy) Anderson, both of Motley; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and two sisiters; Delores Koob, Myrtle Jergenson, tow brothers; James McDougle, Jr., and John McDougle and many special “children” who she welcomed into her family over the years.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Sheila and Diane; one son, Russell “Buck”; one grandson, David; and eight siblings, William, Gerald, Mabel, DeLaine, Caroline, Beatrice, Mary and Marcella.
