Kim Riewer

Kim Louise Riewer, 57, of Staples, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 surrounded by her family at her home. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Sat., Nov. 3, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples, with Father Gabriel Walz officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Fri., Nov. 2 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and again one hour prior to Mass at the church.

Arrangements are by Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples.         

Kim was born March 1, 1961 in Robbinsdale to Robert and Ruth (Leslie) Nurnberger. She graduated from Staples High School in 1979. Kim married Gary Otteson on Feb. 24, 1979. Gary and Kim had two children, Jolene and Aaron. He passed away on June 3, 1981. Kim was united in marriage to John Riewer on September 27, 1986 and together they had two children, Malerie and Jordan. John and Kim and the children lived in Cokato. In 2006 they moved back to Staples. Kim managed the gift shop at Lakewood Health System. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling, crocheting and sewing. Kim was a “sports mom” and enjoyed playing softball. Family was the most important to Kim, and she loved spending time with them at the cabin in Nevis.

Kim is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Jolene (Derek) Owen and children, Eli and Ruthie; son, Aaron (Ashley) Otteson and daughter, Camilla; daughter, Malerie (Christopher) Klabo and children, Juliette and Calvin; son Jordan Riewer; parents, Robert and Ruth Nurnberger; two brothers, Robert Allen Nurnberger and Scot Nurnberger and one sister, Sherri Nurnberger. 

She was preceded in death by first husband, Gary Otteson.
