Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Johnson-Schuller Chapel in Wadena and will resume at the church in Motley on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

DeeDee, age 90, passed away with family at her side on December 27, 2022, at the Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples, MN.

LaDelle, known as “DeeDee”, was born the second of eight children, to Maurice and Erma (Davis) Baker on August 12, 1932, in Wing River Township, Wadena County, MN. Following high school, she obtained a business degree and worked at the Verndale Bank. DeeDee married Charles “Chuck” Neal at her parent’s home on June 15, 1952. Assisting her husband on the farm was hard work. She especially enjoyed the cow-calf operation, and her Christmas letters always included an interesting farm story.

DeeDee was an avid gardener and enjoyed working in her beautiful flower gardens. She was always happy to share her love of flowers with anyone who asked. She had a strong faith in God. It is with joy that her family knows she has gone home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As Jesus tells us in John 6:47, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” (KJV)

Preceding DeeDee in death were her parents, Maurice and Erma; and siblings: Shirley (Dougherty) Grewe, Roger, Maurice “Morey” Jr, and John Baker.

DeeDee is survived by her husband, Chuck; children: Curt (Barb) Neal of Henderson, NV, Cyndi (Rick) Rogge of Verndale, Gayle (Mark) Friesen of Baudette, Craig (Stacey) Neal and Chris (Brandi) Neal both of Verndale; 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Bob) Froehlich of Champlin, Lola (Larry) Larson of Vancouver, WA, and brother, Jim (Sandy) Baker of Wadena; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Serving as casket bearers will be Justin Rogge, Colton Neal, Caleb Neal, Wilson Neal, Brad Baker and Bill Baker.

Burial will be at a later date in Green Lawn Cemetery, Verndale, MN.
