Larry Chapin

Larry Milton Chapin, 75, passed peacefully at home with his wife, son and daughter by his side, on November 1, 2018, following a brave battle with lung cancer.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sat., Nov. 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Bites Restaurant, 2793 State 371 SW, Pine River. Bring a special memory or photo to share, to leave with the family.  

Arrangements were by Kline Funeral Home, Pine River.

Larry was born February 15, 1943 to Milton and Josephine (Winter) Chapin in Wadena. He graduated from Staples High School in 1962. Following high school he worked in Minneapolis for a short time. On Sept. 30, 1963 he entered the Marine Corps and was  stationed at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina, then served one year in Cuba. He worked as an auto mechanic in the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged Oct. 27, 1966. Larry married Sherry  on Nov. 4, 1967 in Staples. He worked as a Tool & Die Maker and Manufacturing Manager. He was an artist and in retirement pursued his hobbies including woodcarving, chainsaw carving, oil painting and building cigar box guitars

Larry is survived by his wife of nearly 51 years; one son, Anthony Chapin and partner, Sarah Chapman of Minneapolis; one daughter, Michelle Chapin and her partner, Lindsey of Minneapolis; four sisters, Dolores Johnson of Staples, Eloise (Marvin) Ryan of Pine River, Gloria Freeman of Brooklyn Park, Carol Heldman of Staples and many nieces and nephews.  

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Burl Chapin and Dale Chapin; one sister, Phyllis Peterson and nephew, Wayne Johnson.
