Leigh Mayer

Leigh “Leo” Stephen Mayer, 62, of Champlin, went peacefully to be with the Lord April 4, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 27, at 11 a.m. at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7835 Brooklyn Blvd., Brooklyn Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. 

Arrangements are by the Cremation Society of Minnesota. 

Leigh was an active volunteer with the Twin Cities Marathon for over 20 years. He loved participating in many Humane Society walks with all of his dogs. Leigh was an avid golfer, belonged to a league for many years with his good buddy, Dan.  Leigh enjoyed spending time with friends, sitting on the patio watching Vikings and Twins games.  He and Jan didn’t have kids of their own, but were blessed to have friends who were eager to share their children’s lives with them and through the years, these kids became almost like their own.

Leigh is survived by his wife of 39 years; three brothers, Kirke (Pat) of Longmont, CO, Kevin (Bonnie) of Red Rock, AZ, Brian of Lexington; sister-in-law, Pam Carlson; brother-in-law, Dave Carlson; mother-in-law, LaDonna Peterson of Motley; many relatives and good friends.

In lieu of flowers, family will accept memorials for Leigh’s favorite charities.
