Leone Brant
Leone Beatrice (Howe) Brant, 94, a former Cass County resident, passed away August 20, 2017 at her home in Waterloo, Iowa.
Burial will be held September 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Poplar Cemetery. Lunch will follow at the Bear’s Den in Leader.
Leone was born March 27, 1923, in Poplar Township to Harley and Bertha (Johnson) Howe. She grew up in rural Backus where she graduated from high school in 1942. She attended business college in Minneapolis. She married Kenneth Brant from Poplar. They purchased a farm in Poplar Township and later moved to Montana for a brief time. They moved to Waterloo where Kenneth worked for Rath Packing Plant for many years, and they resided there until they passed.
Leone is survived by one son, Duane of Waterloo; four daughters, Lorraine (Tom) Gibbons of Elk Run Heights, Iowa, Kathy (Brian) McBride, Mary (Rick) Wersinger and Helen Cochran (Bret Wittmayer), all of Waterloo; one brother, Maurice Howe and one sister, Lucille Coleman, both of Crystal; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren.
Leone was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Kenneth Larue Brant; one daughter, Juanita Louise Brant and two brothers, Howard and Robert Howe.
