Lorraine Hankey, 104, formerly of Cushing passed away November 24, 2018, at the Jones Harrison Residence, Minneapolis.
Memorial services and burial will be held Sunday, July 28, 2019, at Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Staples. Specific details will follow.
Lorraine was born August 20, 1914 to George and Minnie (Kobberbig) Hankey in Grand Forks, ND. She served in the US Navy as a nurse and leader. Commissioned in 1942, she served in three wars: WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, retiring as a Commander in the Navy Nurse Corp. She traveled extensively, but would return to her home on Lake Alexander, Cushing, where she enjoyed her retirement years.
Lorraine is survived by six nieces, four nephews and 24 great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Alice Miresse and Meredith Dahl; one brother Robert Hankey; an infant brother; two nieces and two nephews.
