Margaret Dyer

Margaret Ann Dyer, 100, of Staples, passed away surrounded by her family on March 22, 2017, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.

Mass of Christian Burial was held March 25 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples with Father Joe Korf presiding. 

Interment was at Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Staples. 

Arrangements were with the Taylor Funeral Home, Staples.

Margaret was born May 10, 1916 to Fred and Julia Hoemberg in Staples. She was a member of the first eighth grade graduating class at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Staples in 1930. After graduating from Staples High School, she worked in her parents’ confectionary store where she met her husband. Margaret married Larry Dyer on May 17, 1940. She was active in the Sacred Heart Church Circle, Mission Group and was a member of the Staples Historical Society. She enjoyed sewing quilts, dolls, stuffed animals, making tree skirts and holiday ornaments and writing poems. She was known for good cooking and baking. 

For the past seven years, Margaret was a resident at the Earle Brown Assisted Living Center, Brooklyn Center.

Margeret is survived by her children, Betty Ann (Jim) Warner of Blaine, Barb (Bobbi) and Martin (Don) Fread of Blaine, Pattie (John) Pyle of St. Cloud and Lynn (Tami) Dyer of Thief River Falls; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Patsy Gibney of Lake Oswego, OR.

She was preceded in death by her husband  and one grandson, Michael Fread.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sacred Heart Church or Sacred Heart School.
