Marie Marte

Marie Marte, 75, of Browerville, passed away February 14, 2018, at Lakewood Health System, Staples.

Funeral services were held Feb. 19 at Christ the King Catholic Church with Fr. Mitchell Bechtold officiating.

Interment was held at St. Isidore’s Catholic Cemetery, Moran Township.

Arrangements were by Iten Funeral Home, Browerville.

Marie was born September 25, 1942, in Bertha, to Raymond and Clara (Etzler) Koppes. On July 28, 1964, she married Paul Marte at Ft. Sill, OK. She worked for Wes & Gladys Edin’s Meat Market and Don & Dave’s Store, rural Staples. She was the housekeeper of St. Isidore’s Church for 16 years. After retiring, the couple traveled the states visiting their children. Marie was an accomplished bread baker and canner. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, quilting, playing board games, feeding the birds and visiting. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and the Association of the Miraculous Medal for over 60 years.  

Marie is survived by her husband; two daughters, Deborah (Carlos) Garcia of Irondale, AL and Dawn (Raymer) Sale of Mims, FL;  three sons, Wade (Cheryl) Marte of Staples, David Marte of Lincoln, NE and John (Sarah) Marte of Milaca; one brother, Richard (Jean) Koppes of Staples and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Paul III and four brothers, Raymond, Lawrence, Harry and Jerry.
